Studio Residence Van Woerkom

Van Woerkom designs a studio and home for himself and his family; his studio residence exudes an unparalleled simplicity in which he returns to the experimentation of De Stijl.

Square areas of primary colour on the outer façade mark the points of the compass. The columns, floors and staircases of the construction are emphatically visible, unconcealed by any kind of panelling or facing and with little privacy for the occupants. It is a design that allows the architect to concentrate his energies on his work, his family life and his environment, thus collapsing the boundaries between public and private. What remains is a basic living space.
