Drienerlo student accommodation

For the student housing on the campus in Drienerlo, architect Jan Verhoeven devised a clever structure. He designed a framework for repeatable units which can be added to easily without harming the social cohesion.

On the contrary: expansion strengthens this cohesion. It is a wonderful example of the methods that architects devised in the 1960s to address natural population growth. Verhoeven’s competition design demonstrates his skill as a Structuralist architect. It also shows that the campus of the University of Twente was an experimental site for innovative architecture.
